Employee retention has become a critical concern for organizations due to increasing workforce mobility and changing employee expectations. Job satisfaction is widely recognized as a key factor influencing employees’ decisions to remain with an organization. The present study aims to understand employee retention through the lens of job satisfaction among employees working in Thoothukudi district. The objectives of the study are to examine the relationship between job satisfaction and employee retention, to analyze the relative importance of retention-related factors influencing job satisfaction, and to assess differences in job satisfaction across selected demographic variables. The study adopts a descriptive and analytical research design and is based on primary data collected from employees across various sectors in Thoothukudi district. Data were analyzed using statistical tools such as descriptive analysis, correlation, Friedman test, independent samples t-test, and multiple regression analysis. The paper discusses the conceptual linkage between job satisfaction and employee retention and empirically evaluates their influence on employee outcomes. The findings of the study are expected to provide insights for organizations to design effective human resource strategies focused on enhancing job satisfaction and strengthening employee retention in a regional organizational context.Downloads
