This study explores the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in reshaping electoral behaviour in Ayodhya, a politically and culturally significant constituency in India. With the growing integration of AI tools—such as predictive algorithms, sentiment analysis, chatbots, and microtargeted digital campaigns—political parties have adopted increasingly personalized and data-driven strategies to influence voters. The research investigates how these AI applications impact political messaging, voter engagement, and ideological alignment across different demographic groups. Adopting a mixed-methods approach, the study draws on structured surveys from 500 respondents, in-depth interviews with campaign strategists and voters, and content analysis of social media platforms such as Facebook, YouTube, and WhatsApp. The findings reveal that AI-driven techniques have significantly altered traditional voting motivations, particularly among youth, marginalized communities, and urban voters with high digital exposure. The use of influencers, vernacular messaging, and emotionally charged content was found to enhance voter persuasion while raising ethical concerns about misinformation, algorithmic bias, and voter manipulation. Ayodhya’s symbolic weight in Indian politics—shaped by the Ram Janmabhoomi movement and religious nationalism—amplifies the potency of AI-powered political narratives. The study highlights the widening digital divide, disparities in digital literacy, and varying susceptibility to AI-generated content among sub-populations, emphasizing the need for responsible technology use in democratic processes. The research contributes to the broader discourse on digital democracy, offering policy-relevant insights on regulating AI in political communication. It calls for strengthened electoral oversight, media literacy programs, and ethical frameworks to safeguard transparency and fairness in AI-mediated elections. Ayodhya thus serves as a microcosm for examining the intersection of tradition, technology, and electoral transformation in contemporary India.
