Abstract

A prominent sociopolitical movement that began in India in late 2020 and continued into 2021 is the Indian farmer revolt. Farmers from many states, especially Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh, took to the streets during the demonstrations to express their resentment and call for agricultural changes after the Indian government passed three new agricultural laws. Farmers opposed the regulations that were designed to liberalise the agricultural industry because they were concerned about corporate exploitation and the loss of long-standing protections. In this paper, the main focus is to extract the sentiments of people towards recently adopted Indian farm laws from the twitter dataset using a Bag of Word, Term Frequency –Inverse Document Frequency technique. It has been observed from the analysis of the twitter data that the Random Forest classifiers perform the best in terms of accuracy and other performance parameters to know the exact opinion of the people
