The importance of linguistic approaches that intersect with literary criticism lies in their role as an analytical tool for the literary text. These
approaches, emerging from linguistic–critical interaction, help in understanding how linguistic expressions can be used to achieve
communicative interaction between the speaker and the recipient. This importance is reflected in the way linguistic expressions—through their
structural features that shape the literary text—create coherence among all its linguistic and artistic components. The criteria derived from the
coherence of linguistic and artistic elements play a crucial role in the production of the text, given that language consists of rules and systems
governing its formation, and that the literary text is part of this linguistic structure. This has encouraged linguistic theories and approaches to
move closer to the literary text, contributing to the consolidation of critical methodologies through adopting procedures and techniques from
modern linguistic studies in the analysis of literary texts. This overlap or convergence between criticism and linguistics has ultimately
contributed to the formation of linguistic–critical methodologies, with the literary text as their primary field of application.
