Abstract

Efficient management of lab inventory is very important for
academic and research settings, especially in Electronics and
Communication Engineering (ECE) labs where components are often
borrowed, returned, and updated. Using old, manual ways to track
inventory can lead to problems like lost items, wrong stock counts, slow
processing of component requests, and poor accountability. This paper
introduces a Lab Inventory Management System (LIMS), a smart, cloudbased solution that provides real-time visibility, controlled access based
on roles, and better use of lab resources. The system has web and mobile
versions, making it easy for students, teachers, and staff to manage
inventory. Important features include online borrowing and returning of
components, automatic records of transactions, up-to-date stock
information, and secure login. The system uses Firebase for user
authentication and Fire-store for storing data, while the user interface is
built with React, Flutter, and Next.js for a smooth experience. By
replacing manual tasks with automation, the system saves time, cuts
down on mistakes, and improves responsibility in labs. The results show
a big improvement in how well inventory is used and how satisfied users
are. The system is flexible and can be used in other labs and even in
industries, ensuring it can grow and work reliably in different settings
