Abstract

The growing complexity of markets, fluctuating customer demand, shorter product life cycles, and increasing cost pressures have made supply chain optimisation a strategic necessity. The primary aim of supply chain optimisation is to ensure that the right product reaches the right customer, in the right quantity, at the right time, and at the lowest possible cost. A warehouse is a facility in the supply chain to consolidate products to reduce transportation cost, achieve economies of scale in manufacturing or in purchasing or provide value-added processes and shorten response time. Implementing a Warehouse Management System (WMS) in the pharmaceutical supply chain faces challenges. Therefore, the paper largely focuses upon the various Warehouse Management System practices on Supply Chain Optimisation of the Pharmaceutical Industries in the select region and the methodology of the study is purely based on the primary data by conducting survey to examine the WMS practices in association with Supply Chain Optimisation of the Pharmaceutical Industries of the select region. Hence, Pharma Industries need to succeed in the WMS practices in optimising supply chain.
